“How do you find time to post on LinkedIn and write articles with a full-time job?”

I get asked this a lot, so I thought I'd share my method, in case you're wondering too.

  1. Figure Out Why It Matters to You

Your “Why” will keep you going!

I realized that having a solid online presence—what you might call your 'digital real estate'—is key these days. This includes everything from your LinkedIn posts to articles, and even your mentions in online publications. It's all out there for current or future colleagues, bosses, and clients to find.

Thinking about my career in the long run, I wanted to make sure there's a digital trail showing what I've achieved and learned. Plus, it's a great way to share my insights and help others along the way.

  1. Set Goals That Make Sense

With every “venture” I started small, with a clear picture of what I wanted to be known for. Otherwise, I would be overwhelmed and give up.

  • On LinkedIn, my initial goal was to post twice a week, so that I would at least have 100 posts every year, and over 5 years, it would be 500 posts!

  • For articles, I initially set a goal to write one every three months. That's four articles a year, and 20 in five years.

It's all about building up over time.

  1. Implement systems to keep you on track

Pick a Time: For me, it's Sunday afternoons and times when I'm waiting around during my kids' activities.

Don't Start From Scratch: I keep a list of ideas for posts and articles, so I'm never staring at a blank page wondering what to write.

Here are 2 goodies from my Personal Branding guide to help you do the same.
